Top 5 Strategies for High Scores in Duckov Explorer

Published on January 8, 2026

So, you've mastered the basics of flying Duckov. You can dodge a few asteroids and shoot a few space pirates. But are you ready to become a legend? Here are the top 5 strategies used by elite players to achieve massive high scores.

1. The "Drift and Shoot" Technique

New players often fly straight at their targets. This is a mistake. The best way to engage enemies is to build up lateral momentum (strafing) and then let go of the movement keys. You will continue to drift in that direction while freeing up your fingers to focus purely on aiming and shooting. This makes you a moving target that is hard to hit.

2. Prioritize Targets

Not all space hazards are created equal. Some enemies fire rapid, low-damage shots, while others fire slow, heavy-hitting plasma balls. Always take out the rapid-fire enemies first. Their constant barrage can chip away at your shields and distract you from the bigger threats.

3. Manage Your Cooldowns

Your blaster has a heat limit. If you spam the fire button, it will overheat, leaving you vulnerable for precious seconds. Learn the rhythm of your weapon. Fire in controlled bursts. Accuracy beats volume every time in the vacuum of space.

4. Use the Environment

Asteroids aren't just obstacles; they are cover. If you are overwhelmed, fly behind a large asteroid cluster. This breaks the line of sight for enemy AI and gives your shields a moment to recharge. Pop out from different angles to surprise your pursuers.

5. The "Quack" Distraction (Myth or Reality?)

Some top players swear that using the Quack ability (Spacebar) confuses enemy targeting sensors for a split second. While our developers won't confirm or deny this feature, it certainly doesn't hurt to try! Plus, it's psychologically devastating to your opponents.

Master these five strategies, and you'll see your name climbing the leaderboards in no time. Good luck, pilot!
